Spirit of Caring Awards
Volunteering and giving back to our communities should not go
unnoticed. To honor those who spend countless hours in support of
our mission, the United Way of Effingham County recognizes the efforts
of volunteers and organizations that have contributed outstanding
leadership during the annual campaign for funds through the Spirit of
Caring Awards.
Three Spirit of Caring recipients in the categories of Outstanding
Organization, Outstanding
Volunteer and Outstanding Board Member, are
announced at the Board of Directors annual meeting in January of each year.
This is a great opportunity to recognize and reward those who give so
much to help our community. They are thoughtful, committed citizens
and organizations that continue to help change our world - one activity at a
time!
2007 Recipients
Dr. Ryan Jennings - Outstanding
Volunteers
Dr. Ryan Jennings has
always been a supporter of United Way of Effingham County. In 2004 he
served as a Bachelor during the Bachelor Auction. Dr Jennings most recently
found a new way to participate and support United Way. This summer Dr.
Jennings hosted a private party at his home. Those attending were asked to
bring a donation to United Way of Effingham County. The party was filled
with food, fun and music. Dr Jennings raised close to $3,000 at this
party. Thanks for all you do for United Way of Effingham County.
Midland States Bank - Outstanding Organization
Midland States Bank has
also been a big support of United Way of Effingham County and has conducted
employee campaigns for many years. The 2007 campaign was a record setting
year for them, raising $14,362. This group knows how to raise money and
have fun doing it. They continue to think outside the box on ways to raise
money. Several employees have also volunteered to help work various United
Way events such as the Street Campaign and the Cheeseburgers in Paradise
fundraiser. Special thanks to Midland States Bank and their employees for
all they do for United Way of Effingham County. Congratulations on being
chosen 2007 Outstanding Organization!

United Way Board of Directors in 2005. Since that time, she has been

and Nominating Committee. Jane is always willing to go above and beyond to
ensure the success of the United Way. Thanks for all you do Jane, and
