Catholic Charities
Provides financial, material, emotional and spiritual support to those in need in Effingham County. United Way dollars are used to fund the Food Pantry Program which supplements donated food and household items, the Emergency Assistance Program that provides assistance for rent, utilities, lodging, medications, hot meals, and transportation and to provide family couple and individual (including children) therapy to those unable to pay for counseling services.

CEFS Literacy Program
Offers services to Effingham County residents in one-to-one tutoring, including basic reading and English-as-a-second-language, family literacy programs, workplace programs, and a technically advanced computer assisted instruction program. Offers persons of retirement age the opportunities to participate more fully in their communities through many forms of volunteer services and productive work.
