Arthritis FoundationImproves lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of Arthritis and related diseases. This includes providing programs for arthritic individuals and support groups for those affected by Arthritis. United Way dollars are used to fund these programs.
Boy Scouts of America - Lincoln Trail CouncilDelivers first class scouting programs to families in Effingham County. United Way dollars are used to provide program services to existing charter partners and adult volunteers, increase youth membership and form additional partnerships, registration, books and uniforms for at-risk youth and scholarships for camp for Effingham County troops.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Effingham CountyProvides a highly trained volunteer to serve as an advocate for abused and neglected children in the Effingham County court system. United Way dollars are used to fund this program for minors of Effingham County.
Catholic CharitiesProvides financial, material, emotional and spiritual support to those in need in Effingham County. United Way dollars are to fund the Prescription Medicine Program that provides medicine at no charge to people in need.
CEFS Golden Circle Nutrition ProgramProvides older Americans with low cost, nutritionally sound meals served in strategically located centers and home delivered as well. United Way dollars are used to purchase heat pads - heat sealant trays for the delivery of the meal to the homebound clients.
CEFS Literacy ProgramOffers services to Effingham County residents in one-to-one tutoring, including basic reading and English-as-a-second-language, family literacy programs, workplace programs, and a technically advanced computer assisted instruction program. United Way dollars are used to support literacy services provided through the Literacy Learning Center.
CEFS Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)Offers persons of retirement age the opportunities to participate more fully in their communities through many forms of volunteer services and productive work. United Way dollars are used to provide program and supplies to support the activities such as the making of items for the elderly (wheel-chair and walker caddies, bibs and lap robes for nursing home residents, etc.).
Effingham Child Development CenterOffers educational development programs for infants through age twelve. United Way dollars will be used to purchase items for the daycare such as (3 cribs and bedding, dishwasher, refrigerator) and scholarships for families who need help with daycare expenses.
Effingham County Committee on Aging (ECCOA)Provides services such as monthly informational publications, legal assistance, and referral to other helping agencies-all for the benefit of the county’s senior citizens, also provides transportation. United Way dollars are used to for the transportation program.
Effingham County Family YMCAUnited Way dollars will provide scholarships for Summer Camp for those needing assistance. United Way dollars are also used to purchase equipment and supplies for the Summer Camp program.
Effingham County FISH Human ServicesCommitted to elevating the quality of life for those in need in Effingham County. Utilizes United Way funds to provide school supplies and shoe vouchers for those who cannot provide for their family.
Effingham County Operation SnowballSeeks to prevent substance abuse and promote good health through an on-going “teen to teen” support system, including educational programs, field trips and leadership training skills. United Way dollars are used to fund these programs.
Effingham County Search & Rescue TeamAssists in search and rescue or search and recovery of missing persons. United Way dollars will be used to purchase vital field communications equipment such as hand held radios to be used by the searchers to protect searchers and maintain contact during searches.
Effingham County Youth CommissionProvides activities and supervision to problem juveniles placed in its charge by the Effingham County Circuit Court. United Way dollars are used to cover costs associated with costs for these programs.
Girl Scouts USA - River Bluffs CouncilHelps cultivate values, social conscience, and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. United Way dollars are used to provide program activities for the Effingham County troops.
Kids Hope United - Hudelson RegionProvides counseling and crisis intervention services to runaway and homeless youths and their families. United Way dollars are used to fund programs that help youth at risk of being placed out of the home due to runaway, being locked-out of the home and/or family conflict.
Lutheran Child and Family ServicesAssists mothers of infants, especially mothers who are young, isolated, and lack parenting skills. The mothers will increase their knowledge base of nutrition, child development and parenting skills, decrease isolation, increase emotional and material support and will receive referrals of other needed resources. United Way dollars are used to fund the Moms program for those in Effingham County.
OneightySeeks to help junior high and high school students build their faith, assist them in establishing values and making wise decisions, and to inspire a generation to establish Godly principles of living. United Way dollars are used to fund these programs.
SAFE (Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies)Provides support services for sexual assault victims and family members through crisis intervention, medical and legal advocacy; counseling, both individual and group; professional training; institution advocacy; education prevention programs in area schools; public education; and information and referrals. United Way dollars are used to provide these services to Effingham County residents.
SWAN (Stop Woman Abuse Now)Provides comprehensive services to the victims of domestic violence and their children, and to elderly victims of abuse. United Way dollars are used to provide these services to Effingham County residents.
